Hi there I have a problem that seems not possible to solve. I have asked at the plazas but no one have any suggestion so this is my last hope. My avatar is not working properly..and yes it is grey :o . I have not found any answer either in the forums. What I have done;
1. trying to purge it, 2. trying to delete it, 3. trying to re-install it, 4. trying to use another skin, shape, eyes and hair. Nothing works (when trying to wear something just nothing happens, no error message, no reaction at all) and the avi tools are all outgreyed. Well Im a builder but still think the avi look is important. I use latest Firestorm and have not had any problem whatsoever with avi before until this started for about 2 weeks ago (no problems like this either at other gridnets). Any constructive idea other than leaving OSG (yes I got that suggestion at plaza :( ) is warmly welcome.

thanks, NH

(hope this forum is the right one, otherwise pls move it).

Most of the problems get solved sooner or later...
I know you tried a lot, but have you tried
1: a different viewer
2: a clean install of Firestorm?

Good luck

Try this, but be sure to follow these steps EXACTLY -

1.) Go to a sim with a good connection, and not many avatars. OSGrid's Sandbox Plaza or Sandbox Plaza II are good usually.

2.) Open your inventory, type "a" in the search field to force a search of all folders, which opens them all.

3.) Wait! if it says "Fetching 2,345 items..." with the ellipse (3 periods) at the end, it's still searching. Don't do anything or go anywhere until the inventory stops loading.

4.) Right-click on the top-level Inventory folder and choose "New Folder".
I would rename it "Blank Avatar" but what ever you wish.

5.) Right-click on the new folder and choose "New Body Parts" then "New Shape", "New Skin", "New Hair", and "New Eyes" one after the other. This will give you a fresh new avatar, it will be naked. You can give it a shirt and pants also but not really necessary.

6.) Right-click on the new folder again, and choose "Replace Current Outfit". You will also see "Wear Items" but I think Replace is best.

7.) You should appear as a default, naked avatar. At this point, if you still don't, then most likely, you have a poor internet connection. If you are on a wireless connection to a router, a direct cable connection will be so much better if you can.

8.) Clear your viewer cache and relog back to the same place. Repeat steps 2 and 3. It may take several minutes before your inventory loads and you appear. When it does, you have successfully "Ruthed" or "Ralphed" yourself. You can now wear your own skin, shape, hair, eyes and clothing but you might want to proceed one item at a time in case something is corrupted, to make it easier to troubleshoot.
