The Speedbuild events are back! At the new Recreation Plaza, created specifically for events like this. I hope to have finally settled on a good time to please almost everyone, with 1 game per week, two times 12 hours apart alternating weeks, hopefully giving people all over the globe a chance to play at a decent hour:

Week 1: Thursday, 7 am PST - 10 am EST - 14:00 UTC
Week 2: Thursday, 7 pm PST - 10 pm EST - and Friday, 02:00 UTC

These times will correlate with the PrimWords game schedule, only be a day later.

Here are the game regulations:

OSGRID SPEEDBUILD REGULATIONS

You have an hour in which to build something to a predetermined theme.

The theme will not be revealed until the game timer starts.

You can use any prims, textures, colours, effects, and scripts - as long as they are created during the event and have your name as creator.

You are NOT allowed to use a prebuilt item or part of a prebuilt item, or any item not of your own creation.

You can build within the confines of the tile on the floor, but as high as you want.

Once the hour is over we take a short break to look at the builds and vote.

Votes are to be on a notecard to me with just the name of the creator.

All builds have to be linked, set to full permissions and 'anyone can copy'. This includes any scripts or contents that are in the builds.

Please label your creations, set them to the Speedbuild group, and put the theme in the description.

It is recommended that your builds be limited to less than 250-ish prims, not a strict number as there is no set limit like in Second Life but just to make it easier on yourself at the game's end and be less of a load on the server when everyone is trying to link their builds all at once.

We missed you Oddy! Here's some pics: http://gallery.osgrid.org/main.php?g2_itemId=6863

I am trying to decide if a different day would be better. Things were pretty rough in the beginning, and both Neb and I thought that being Sunday could be one of the main causes. I'm going to try for Saturday, noon Pacific (same as Linden time) which is 3 pm Eastern US or 20:00 UTC/GMT. If you would like to receive notices inworld, please join the Osgrid Speedbuild group. I will send out reminders one hour before each game, and one last notice a few minutes before the event. Tell your friends please :D

P.S. Also, I will be hosting the PrimWords game once a week! For those who never played this, it's a spinoff of Pictionary, but you build with prims rather than draw pictures. I'll post details in a new thread.

The Speedbuilds have proven to be very popular :D

Sadly, I cannot easily hold two games in one day any longer so I am making a scheduling change. I will edit the original announcement at the beginning of this thread.

Back to good news: Yesterday's build saw a record number of attendants, with 8 builders!

The theme was "Computers in the 1900's" which everyone, being computer geeks, had fun with :)
