Hey Folks,

So far I suck at making anims but I thought I'd inquire if anyone has made some of the ones I dream of. I'm looking for stuff for role play with practical actions the avatar can partake in. Her's a list of the top of my head:

Holding a tray (bartending/waiting tables) I'd love to make a whole ao based around carrying a tray eventually.
Holding and or using a camera " " same idea with an ao here
casting spells with a wand
stirring a pot
chopping stuff for cooking
sweeping or mopping

If anyone makes these or knows where some of them might be in OSGrid please enlighten me:)

Found a few of them on anim street; mopping, chopping and possibly a sword slash could work for spells. I also found something for some kind of loping foraging forest creature. Seriously people, don't leave me unsupervised:)

I got a bunch of animations from Linda Kellie, but I'm trying to track down what oar I got the package from --still, look at her mall, I think she's got some packages there. Also I noticed that Arcadia Asylum left out a bunch of animations on the African Slums sim (read the note in the packages).

Other than that, and for what you want specifically --no idea, sorry :(

I have a bucket load of bvh on my HD - some work better than others when imported. I'll take a look if I have anything suitable and see what bvh hacker can do with them to make them more usable for you. It's likely to take a few days, though.

Thanks both of you:) I'm pretty sure I've collected most of the Linda Kellie everything by now. I haven't seen what Arcadia has though so maybe I'll swing by there at some point and check it out. In the meantime I'll box up today's finds and stick them in my freebie shop to share sometime soon.

Hi Jamie,
From what you have said "So far I suck at making anims" leads me to believe that you have at least tried to make anims and perhaps have made some but you were'nt happy with them, so I'm going to go out on a limb.
If you have the application (avimator, poser or whatever) then you can make the "waiter holding a tray" easily, if you know some of the secrets.
The most important one is that if you dont move a joint from the default position, then that joint will continue with the default anim inworld, this means all you need to do is position the avatars right (or left) arm and hand in the tray holding position, and dont change anything else, and save that one frame as an animation, (like a pose) and upload it with a medium level priority, all the rest of the joints will behave normally.
The result is an avatar that walks sits runs, whilst holding a tray with one hand.
I did this in SL with a handbag anim, made and sold handbags, so I made a one frame anim which only the left arm was positioned in the standard handbag pose, and it worked, easy.

Animation doesnt mean you need to make lots of frames, just one frame can have a great effect.

Remember if you change all the joints from the default position, the result will be a frozen avatar, whichever joints you change will be set in stone, the ones you dont move will behave as to whatever animation is playing inworld (walk, stand, sit, fly). You must start with the avatar in the default position when making the animation.

Jamie, I am pretty fair at creating simple animations. If you have some in mind that you have not found anywhere else, let me know and if I think I can do it, I'll give it a shot.

Jaime,

The CMU files mentioned above are a great resource. I've imported a few of them into my sim, with no mods neecessary. However, not all of them will import "as is". One reason is that they are too large for SL/OS, larger than 1MB. Another, is that the BVH files may or may not have issues, which should be mentioned on the CMU site. Make sure you get the correct sets.

Once you have them, you can easily modify most of them to suit your needs using BVHHacker.

I have some "cleaning" and "cafe" type anims that came from the CMU package, and they imported without issue. Just make sure to keep the file size in mind, as well as the issue mentioned on the CMU site. I know you'll find most of what your looking for in those sets, they are quite extensive.

Having said all this, does anyone know how to play, or where to find .bvh files for the emotes?
