I love this statment
"While the general "Golden Rule" works and individual rules for regions is fine, I'm afraid that "the live and let live attitude" wont cut it any more in these modern times"
To be honest this is how it will have to be with a grid like OSGrid as the only thing the ToS would cover is the inventory and asset server. logins would be a problem depending were you logged in from but again would only affect osgrid hosted regions.
With each sim/region being in many different locations around the world one would assume with 90% certainty that the laws of the land would apply to were the sim is actually hosted which for osgrid would be a great thing.
This allows osgrid to maintain limited rules ie. don't store copyrighted items on our servers.
Granted some could say well you are connected to osgrid so have to follow there rules but to be fair i see osgrid as a dns server which just points you in the right direction so really in most country's you would have some protection as just being a isp/directory/gateway
This i think is were OSgrid will rule it has the advantage that second life never. It has the opportunity to be totally open completely left to the owners/creators of the sims if you want to run a casino place your server in a country that lets you lol you want to run a strip club again place it in a country that doesn't worry about it. there are limitless possibilities with this scenario.
Can you imagine it asset servers all round the world inventory servers all around the world OSgrid as the front door the jump point of many interconnected hyper grids each with its own rules This would be a true open 3d world.
If rules have to be brought in they must be scrutinised in every way you have one shot to get it right the first time you only have to look across the virtual world at SL to see what has been lost with to tight a control.
hmmm time to get back to sleep soz for the rants
