Hello ,

Before the last main upgrade there was an internet site available "who is online"
This tool was really intresting for socializing and also to find new sims
at this moment it is quite impossible to find sims where people are present ... it makes OSgrid far less attractive

when will such a tool be available again ?

Log in to the website, go to the "my grid tools" tab, click on "users in world" and you can use that tool today...

Yes, that's true. A List of Someones. Who would have thought? I didn't know I could log into the website. That's worth knowing.

People in your friends list are named in that list, the "someones" are people not in your friends list.

Larysa Firehawk , thank you very much of relancing this old topic
I personnally did not know about this improvement

Could be put a panel at LBSA explaining how to use this tool?

I think many people do not come to osgrid because they do not know where to find people with which they could just have a talk
The only place where you are actually sure to find someone is LBSA

Sounded like a great idea so I put this up at LBSA Plaza today:

I would like to point out that there is no way to opt out of being shown as a "someone" in a region. Just because a region has a someone or someones in it doesn't guarantee that they will welcome unannounced visitors. It also doesn't show the region rating, so there is no way to tell what you will find once you get there. Nothing like interrupting people sharing a "private moment" or dropping in on someone who is in the middle of a complex build and doesn't want to be interrupted to ruin any chance you might have of becoming their friend.

Don't get me wrong, there are many regions that are very happy to welcome folks. To find them, there is also the region showcase in the forums, landmarks in LBSA and the search. These sources will tell you regions that are more generally open and welcoming to visitors. You can even compare the region name to the "whose online" to match them up. If you join in some of the published events (see the events forum or the board in LBSA) and hang around Lbsa you will make a few friends, once you do, you will be able to see them online in their region and ask if they would welcome a visitor.

Jalen, then disable logins to the region or set it for group only in the estate panel.

The former would be preferable as it prevents teleporting to the region in the first place..the second option pins the avatar against the side of the region on arrival then logs them out of OSgrid. If you had no warning the region was private...it's not a good experience for users.

Jalen, I've been working on a script based security system that allows you to block avatars by age, group, IP, and hypergrid user (Still adding more options). It's menu driven so you can turn on and off what you want. You can also choose to kick or teleport the avatar away to a random plaza. Kicking will crash most viewers while teleporting will send them away without crashing them unless they are banned at the plazas.
