It has been a while since I posted in this topic. The boardwalk situation has not changed. There still is one gab of one region. This also means there are 7 independant sim owners that DO participate in the boardwalk which I think is really great. As I own both regions on either side of the gab, I tried to make easy teleports to jump the missing boardwalk section. Ofcourse I still hope someday this last region will join the boardwalk also but ofcourse it is all voluntairy as all the mapspots are required by different persons over time all having the same rights to mapspots in OSgrid.
Anyways, maybe it is time for some extra effort and inputs.
I like to say that I am busy buying and setting up two extra servers and when I have them all running fine, some of the now nature land regions at the boardwalk will be chopped and offered as free parcels to the community. Vaughn (our scripter) is busy creating a script that remembers and counts how long a parcel is not visited. With this we like to create a system that if land is not used for a long time, we can free it up and offer it to someone who does need it more. The system will take activity in account. meaning that if someone owns the land longer, the pauzes between needed visits increase. Just trying to make a honest system of freeland occupation. inputs welcome as always.
Please do not ask me to give up a spot at the moat lbsa if you are not already in the "boardwalk participating simowners tream". In previous pages here I explained how I got the spots and for what I would give spots to others. With turning all my boardwalk nature regions into freeland I think I offer something back to the OSgrid community for having this A location spots even though I do not have to this. I am not using the spots in any commercial way apart from the two info center regions. None of the A-location spots are for lease. I also want to try to prevent more gabs in the boardwalk which gets more likely if the team would get bigger. Currently the boardwalk simowners are a very stable bunch of "hardcore OSgrid stayers"
Also I am busy creating a sort of little elevated "house/shop" connected to and accessible via the boardwalk. It is meant to be placed without having to edit the boardwalk. This to offer little shopspaces/houses all around the boardwalk for offering things like learning-cards, infos, freebies etc etc. This meant to make it more interesting for people to walk the boardwalk. Ofcourse the objects will be made available copy/modify/resell to all boardwalk region owners.
I also am thinking of a kind of "star collection" system (like in Mario world) connected with a webpage. If people visit places at the boardwalk or simply walk around, they automatically collect stars which will be shown inworld and on a webpage. Just for the fun of collecting or maybe to win some kind of price?. We could add some more difficult to find stars to make it an actual game or something. I am currently fighting with learning SQL database (mainly setting a database up and talking with php to it) as I never bothered learning this before and it is needed for systems like this.

Ofcourse all (other) ideas, remarks and critics are more then welcome.
