I have this ongoing problem... an asshole neighbour (weliton barbosa)that Initially got my attention when he attempted to overlay a sim onto mine. I've had this same position for quite some time and have been up and running 24/7 since this time last year.

So what does he do? he constantly hammers my server attempting to gain access; I've estate banned this 'mo-fo' & turned off public access due to his hammering attempts, and what does he do? He continues to hammer the server.

Does anyone have any suggestions short of griefing his dumb ass?

Greetings,
what does mean that hammering?

If his activity does affect stability of your sim you can complain either to admins here but also use who is on that man IP and send abuse report to his ISP.

If it doesn't affect stability of your sim i would just ignore it.

Did you spoke to him? It might be all just misunderstanding.

Cheers, Bo

PS: are you sure that the wording helps you matter?

"Hammering" is an ancient internet term that basically refers to someone using a repeated process to gain access, (a very common usage for this was during dialup days to gain access to a busy internet server).

The process is more well known these days during DoS attacks where multiple addresses are used to attack ONE website to destabilize it and take it offline. So yes, this CAN destabilize if he sets up a script. to continue it.

I sent him an IM telling him that his attempts were noticed and he was locked out Sadly, I also had to lock out everyone else (group access only now) as well as I can't trust him NOT to use alts. I then muted him as I don't need the melodrama that these people normally have.

I dealt with this same issue last year with a guy that just would not stop. A complaint was entered to the OSGrid execs but no response was ever given to me.

I wanted just be sure what you mean under it and if it is able to destabilize your system. Some attacks are quite harmless.

In general log it and complain to his ISP. If he has stable IP address just block him within sim or protect the ports using IPTABLES.

If his law supports that, under some conditions can be his activity claimed to be stalking/abuse.

Cheers, Bo

Someone mentioned an idea to setup 'sea sims' to surround my island. I can't seem to get a second sim happening without it knocking off the 1st. (yes I have been double checking the port (9001 instead of 9000) and the regions.ini file reflects the new sim in name etc short of the UUID code which I don't seem to be getting a fresh one for some odd reason.

Can anyone point me to a page that can explain how to do this successfully?
