Idea: Create a walkable boardwalk all around the Moat Lbsa regions on the touching private owned regions.
=========================================================================================

Why: People might be tempted to walk the complete way and see all the different regions with their own intentions/interests. Region-owners can advertise their intentions and at the same time the region-owners show that they can all work together.
1 + 1 = 3 if all the 1's see the mutual benified that can be gained by working together :)

(Edited September 8,2011 as ringowners have changed a bit (2 owners added))
(Edited March 9, 2012 as ring owners have changed a lot)
(Edited March 26, 2012 as ring owners have changed and boardwalk is put in on most regions now)
(Edited March 27, 2012 Oddball's Guitar Museum and Sylvias Swondo Sea 20 have switched and both boardwalks are added)
(Edited March 29, 2012 Michelle Argus added the boardwalk to her regions.)
(Edited April 3, 2012 Lucy Afarensis completed her boardwalk.)
(Edited April 10, 2012 I gave up the spot I had in the South-east corner so Lucy could have her two regions laying connected again)
(Edited April 13, 2012 Dorothea Lundquist added the boardwalk Today. Now there is only 1 out of 24 left without the boardwalk.)
(Edited September 4, 2012 Claudia Sanz has filled the spot of Oddball Otoole. She already im'ed she likes to participate withg the boardwalk.)
(Edited October 30, 2012 Adham DeCuir has filled the spot previously owned by Vixen Heron. An IM is send telling him about the Boardwalk)
(Edited October 30, 2012 Adham DeCuir has created his boardwalk and the boardwalk is now for the firsttime completely all around   )

This topic is especially meant for the region owners who have a region touching one of the Moat Lbsa regions:
- Lucy Afarensis
- Claudia Sanz
- Michelle Argus
- Dorothea Lundquist
- Akira Sonoda
- Dog Pluto
- Adham DeCuir
- Sylvia Sonoda

Ofcourse everyone with ideas and thoughts is also welcome to respond.

In this topic I hope we will try to come to a joined idea for a boardwalk all around the Lbsa core.

I will write down my thoughts but please remember this is only meant as a start. We (All Moat Lbsa surrounding region-owners) must come to something we all like before we can call this forum discussion a success. Every contribution, remark, suggestion, question etc is welcome.

Suggestions:
1. We all create our own boardwalk so it fits the style of our region or we come to one agreed boardwalk if we can find something we all like.
2. The route of the boardwalk should be straight forward in one line (no detours into the region) at agreed coordinates. I suggest right on the border with Moat Lbsa.
3. If we do not use one type boardwalk, we should try to agree on position and size(length, width, height) so at least there is some kind of consistency and the boardwalks connect nicely to the next.
4.Should we agree on how we all advertise our thing on the boardwalk? This to prevent the one trying to create even more dominant things then his/her neighbour. Agree on things like ways of advertsing on the boardwalk and sizes of signs etc etc.
5. Maybe we can create info signs along the route about the other regions. Again we have to agree on being consistent I think. See if we can make it so that for the visiter it feels about the same where ever he/she walks on the board-walk.
6.we need to double some (invisible)prims over the edges to prevent sinking at crossings.
8. Maybe we also need to agree a bit on connections to the boardwalk. I mean like T connections to roads into the regions. Something like: "No connections to the boardwalk within 50 meters of the border to the neighbouring region".

Question: If we do not use one type boardwalk, then what else should we agree on to prevent too much differences?
Ok lets start with this. Please suggestions, comments etc etc :)

I strongly believe it is mutual beneficial if we can create an interesting ring around the community center of OSgrid.
Ofcourse if we really succeed at this and we all like it, then we can try to do even more joined things to make all our places extra nice for visitors. I am sure by working together we can gain individually more in the middle long run.
I mean even if this means I have a sign on my boardwalk telling direction to the compettition :)

Greetz,
Sylvia Sonoda

As of October 30, 2012 the Boardwalk has been completed. 8 Independant owners completed the ring on 24 regions all around MOAT LBSA.
It took one year and two months but we did it. Maybe the next goal should be to make the boardwalk the most spoken about place in OSgrid. :)

Januari 3 , 2013 update: we lost a few spots due to an osgrid autoclean error. we got a few spots back becasue of repairs of this. I will update this page wehn its stable again. too much happening and changing at the moment.

My 2 cents for the discussion

I like the idea of a promenade around "Moat Lbsa" here is a quick screenshot i took from google StreetView at Cannes.

The road with the car is not necessary :-) but a nice broad walk with some sitting possibilities a little bit separated with trees and bushes could give a nice feeling for the people. I don't mind to spend some hundreds of prims for this project.

2. Agree !!!
3. I prefer the same type of boardwalk for everybody
4. Advertises should be in a natural fashion. Billboards have a limited size and should not be bigger on this boardwalk. Standardized Items ( signs, billboards etc. ) for everyone would be great
5. Yeah consistency among all participants is important in order to have a common presentation and not a patchwork behind the boardwalk everybody is free how to present his region.
6. Any help to make region crossing as smooth as possible is highly appreciated
7. Agree :-)
8. Again Connections should be in a natural ... No problem with that 50 meter of the border of the neighbouring region.

Looking forward to a nice boardwalk around "Moat Lbsa" !!

Thank you for the initiative Sylvia

I don't have a region myself there, but I give this suggestion 2 thumbs up!

If I might add; I, for myself speaking, like the idea of a uniform boardwalk (with some small details on different regions).

Just my two-quazillon OS$

It is an interesting idea.

1. When I first heard of the idea I did imagine we would all create our own style to fit our region. I tried to imagine what a space boardwalk would look like.
I change the look of my region from time to time and for now I'm trying to make it look like a different planet. So even though that stone wall looks great in the pictures I'm not sure it would go with my theme as it is.
http://www.naut.tk/red-planet.jpg
(I'm happy to play around with it though & see what it looks like)

2. I don't see why the walk has to go in one line. I think it would be more fun (if I was walking the walk) to wind through a road that takes me on a scenic adventure.

3. I think the size should be the same so it connects nicely to the neighboring region but position should be discussed between the owners of each region. For example, the north west corner Beep3 might want to extend the small corner of the boardwalk out west a bit more and enter the southern region “Orientation Island” from the middle of the region. This would be totally up to the two to work out a place on the land that they both like.

4. I'm not a fan of most types of advertising so I would like to have little of none in my regions.

5. Info signs are a good idea if we keep it simple and maybe not flood people with Land Marks or Note Cards every time they enter the region or an area. I like it better when I get to request something rather than having to click a pop up to accept or not but let's talk about this further.

6. Yes, we need to make it as safe as we can to cross the borders. Maybe we need to have an arch or gate of some sort to mark the edges.

7. I'm not sure about point number seven. I'll have to think about this. ;)

8. It could be good to have T intersections that lead into the region. If we do have them they should have a sign up to mark what is in each direction so people don't lose the board walk.

If we decide to have one style of boardwalk for everyone it would look good to have variations of it. Just say we used that stone one it would look really cool if it entered my region and over a 5 or 10 meter distance it changed colour or shape to blend into my red planet theme. Or if someone had a jungle theme it could have green vines growing all over it or moss here and there.

Vixen and Sylvia has been so kind to let me have regions in this area. I am really grateful for that and hope I will turn that into something nice for others to visit and a good place for my freebie things.

I think the boardwalk around this area is a wonderful idea and I support it...

Hello Sylvia and others around Moat Lbsa,

I do gladly join in for a Boardwalk. Its fine with me if the boardwalk is a bit similar everywhere. So if you start building please contact me and I let you build or I may put the built for you.
For sure I will connect the regions around mine with the Boardwalk as far as I can.

Sincerely

Tim
