When I bump into a step or something higher in an Opensim region, my Firestorm viewer makes a "snap" sound, rather than the "thud" I hear in Second Life. Is there a place where I can set a specific sound for this type of collision? I have tried various suggested settings for the Firestorm viewers, with the following results:

I tried, under Preferences > Sounds & Media > UI Sounds 1
Female avatar hurt deselected
Male avatar hurt deselected
and this had no effect.

I tried, under Preferences > Sounds & Media > Sounds
Ambient muted - no effect
Uncheck Ambient > Play sounds from collisions - no effect
Sound Effects muted - yes, got rid of the snap, and every other sound effect.

So, unless I want to get rid of ALL sound effects (which I do not), I seem to be stuck with this darned "snap" instead of the "thud" I hear for the same interaction in Second Life. Where the heck is this sound stored? If this is a viewer-side thing, where can I set a different sound? Likewise, if it is server-side, where can I change it? If it is viewer-side, why is the sound different in the Second Life version of Firestorm from the OpenSim version?

i have been complaining about that insufferable tapping sound for years, i can not stand it. it is too harsh and sharp. it bothers me more then any words can ever express and i wish they would change it desperately.

Its probably one of the collision sounds assets in opensim... Nebadon made most of these sounds (typing, etc) a long time ago

bin\assets\CollisionSoundsAssetSet

(avatars trigger the ones with flesh in name)

other sounds are at
bin\assets\SoundsAssetSet
many are ui sounds
