I've had a sim running on a VPS for a while, but when I have to restart, it takes a good while. This is 12 regions, of which around 7 are just moat regions. 2 are the main region, and 3 are other user content (with permission).

Now, It's been there for a good while, and I'm thinking of renting a second VPS to split it. Using mysql, and being selective about splitting, can it be done? I know that I could offload the database to the separate VPS, but that would introduce its own latency issues.

Selective splits (e.g region 1 & region 2) on separate servers, but acting as a single instance, to allow multiple region land edits, and entry from one to the next without the whole teleport crap.

Can it be done?

EDIT: - All on Linux - Debian specifically
