I am fairly new to OSGrid, although I've been building in SL for years. I know the limit for self rezzzed prims seems to be 64m. Does this mean that larger prims should not be used? I would like to build a sim sized skybox and want to use a single 256x256 prim instead of multiple smaller prims for the floor. Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this?

Mike

Most viewers except for the SL viewers (which I guess will not work here any more)will let you make prims up to 256 meters. Sometimes you need to reset stuff in the building preferences with the others. The only reason that you might not want to use a 256 meter prim is that if an avatar's viewer distance is set to less than 128 meters the prim will disappear when you get more than that distance from the center of the prim.

On a side note, SL does allow prims that are 1024 meters. You can't make them but they are available to be rezzed and they are very useful landscape builds. So far I have not been able to figure out how to make them here

It is also affected by how the Region server is setup. OpenSim.ini and Regions.ini can both be used to limit the maximum size of both physical and phantom prims.
