 Post subject: Is there a way convert RWX and/or VRML 3D for use in OpenSim

I have been hosting and creating 3D content for a variety of 3D platforms for more than a decade. I have multiple servers running various 3D platforms, e.g., http://united3d.com running Blaxxun Community Server Platform 5.1 (Blaxxun is no longer active), and ActiveWorlds 5.0 at http://active3dworlds.com (ActiveWorlds is still around). My OpenSim server is http://3DHappiness.net:9000 (I am still getting it off the ground but it is up and running with 8 regions and appears to be stable - trying to figure out how to set up parcels of land so people can build). I have been dabbling with various 3D platforms over the years to expand my knowledge and offerings (everything is free - this is just my hobby). I will forgo the long list of platforms that I never got anywhere with but the two most promising new platforms that I have been investing more time and energy in over the last couple of years are Open Wonderland (Java based and does hold some promise) and OpenSim (the most mature of the two and I really like :) ).

I mention all of this for context for this discussion. In my ActiveWorlds Galaxy I have a ton of 3D content created over the years, e.g., avatars, objects, buildings, etc. and this is all done in the RWX format for the most part (the avatars are mostly created in Poser so it perhaps has the ability to be saved in different formats). On my Blaxxun sites I have years and years of hand crafted VRML content, e.g., avatars, objects, homes, buildings, and entire worlds which are .WRL (this would equate to a Region and/or .OAR).

Given that I have years upon years on this content in both RWX and VRML, I have a wealth of potential content for use in OpenSim if there is a way to convert all of this content to the formats compatible with OpenSim. Has anyone done this type of content conversion before? Are there any tools to convert this type of content (RWX or VRML)? Does anyone have any thoughts, advise, or suggestions regarding the conversion of this content?
