But lag on some regions is not necessarilly lag on those regions. I haven't quite figured it out yet, but I've replaced my gfx card with a much more powerful model, and suddenly, what I thought were laggy regions aren't.

I don't actually understand it, because my old card was, whilst not cutting edge, no slouch either, but the difference is honestly staggering. I ran my old card with modest settings, the new with all the bells and whistles. What I don't get is how gfx card perfomance could manifest as lag consistently on some regions, but not others. My own region is optimised for advanced lighting etc. and never exhibited lag. Regions less demanding did (wright plaza is a good example), which is now smooth as silk.

So what's the relationship between perceived lag and local system? I sure can't figure it out.

Well i use an NVidia GTX 610 and havent had to many issues with it.
The only problem i have ran into using it.
Before upgrading my system to a total of 12 gigs of ram, and windows seven 64 bit.
If i ran to many browser windows open, i would crash the video card lol.
Havent had that problem this time, so far.
But i have always been a huge Nvidia fan since my days of doing tech support for some well known companies.

A Radeon HD6670 scores a passmark rating of 1044 while the Nvidia GTX 670 scores 5386... so seeing a major boost in performance doesn't surprise me at all :)

(a higher passmark is better)

I appreciate that the increase in graphics performance is not surprising (though the scale of the increase has surprised me nevertheless), but I still don't get why it seems to reduce what I always attributed to server lag?
