I concur. Most people have no clue, nor appreciate what a tremendous challenge and effort it has been to update/rewrite all the code, and move the biggest grid in the metaverse around with such little downtime and without stuff exploding afterwards.
Such trajects are typically long and painful, with loads of issues popping up out of thin air. Fix one thing, break the next. Users generally do not like changes, so sometimes it seems an ungrateful and tough job as well. But it was necessary. And Osgrid came through, purely due to these devoted people.
If you have to hire a consulting / IT company for what Dan and Paela accomplished together, the bills would probably have exceeded the costs of running this grid for a decennium. But thanks to these super-admins now all is faster, more secure, functioning as it should, and on a sidenote, it's saving the grid money every month.
So chapeau to Paela & Dan for all the hard volunteer work, enabling us all to continue our virtual lives, and giving Osgrid the best chances of surviving in the niche climate we exist in for another 10 years. Cheers!
