[2018/04/07 11:09] albertlr Landar: Not a lot to report this week.
[2018/04/07 11:09] albertlr Landar: my chat is a little slow, but region seems stable this week for everyone I hope.
[2018/04/07 11:09] albertlr Landar: brb, relogging

[2018/04/07 11:11] Boomer McBooms: bummer
[2018/04/07 11:11] albertlr Landar: It has something to do with Singularity
[2018/04/07 11:11] Cataplexia Numbers is Offline
[2018/04/07 11:11] Boomer McBooms: I use Firestorm
[2018/04/07 11:11] Boomer McBooms: This is a neat radio station.
[2018/04/07 11:12] albertlr Landar: I have found that if I get too many IM's then my local chat stops working in Singularity for some reason.
[2018/04/07 11:12] Boomer McBooms: weird
[2018/04/07 11:13] albertlr Landar: Firestorm does not seem to have that problem.
[2018/04/07 11:13] albertlr Landar: But casper had asked me if I was using Windows 10 and had regions on OSgrid.
[2018/04/07 11:13] albertlr Landar: And the answer is yes I do.
[2018/04/07 11:13] Boomer McBooms: I have tried most viewers, and like Firestorm the best.
[2018/04/07 11:14] Peter Barlow: I'm not receiving group notices that were sent when I was offline...others do...I suspect that might be a Sing. issue too
[2018/04/07 11:14] albertlr Landar: Yea, its best to try what works best for each user.
[2018/04/07 11:14] Arrwyll Barzane: does seem laggy
[2018/04/07 11:14] Arrwyll Barzane: hey Peter
[2018/04/07 11:14] Arrwyll Barzane: myu chats arent getting out at all - relogging

[2018/04/07 11:15] Arrwyll Barzane: thnx - hopefully i can now chat
[2018/04/07 11:15] Arrwyll Barzane: there., better
[2018/04/07 11:15] Boomer McBooms: I hear you.
[2018/04/07 11:15] Arrwyll Barzane: wasnt getting out at all before
[2018/04/07 11:15] George Equus is Offline
[2018/04/07 11:15] albertlr Landar: Well I reported that I had problems with my Osgrid Server because of the update that MS made for AMD computers, that made it impossible to reboot.
[2018/04/07 11:15] George Equus is Online
[2018/04/07 11:16] Boomer McBooms: Oh dear. There went George
[2018/04/07 11:16] Arrwyll Barzane: wow
[2018/04/07 11:16] albertlr Landar: Got that resolved by reinstalling Windows.
[2018/04/07 11:16] albertlr Landar: Only solution in my case.
[2018/04/07 11:16] Boomer McBooms: There he is.
[2018/04/07 11:16] Emma Bass: interesting Albert ..... was that AMD GPU computers or AMD CPU computers Albert?
ANSWER: My computer that got messed up by the MSWindows 10 update was an AMD GPU computer. My AMD CPU computer was ok, no problem with it.
[2018/04/07 11:16] Boomer McBooms: I stil use Windows 8.1
[2018/04/07 11:16] George Equus: Chat just stopped responding..
[2018/04/07 11:16] albertlr Landar: Yea, apparently the Windows release did not properly handle the AMD bios properly.
[2018/04/07 11:17] albertlr Landar: They have since fixed it with AMD's help, but unfortuantely a lot of people had their computers disabled by the original release.
[2018/04/07 11:17] Boomer McBooms: I do not trust Microsoft. Wonder if that is on purpose?
[2018/04/07 11:17] albertlr Landar: Well I do not like their forced updates that is what caused the problem to begin with.
[2018/04/07 11:17] Boomer McBooms: Yes.
[2018/04/07 11:18] George Equus: I will hang on to my win7 setup for as long as technically possible
[2018/04/07 11:18] dan banner: hi all
[2018/04/07 11:18] Arrwyll Barzane: hey dan
[2018/04/07 11:18] albertlr Landar: They are trying to make the system more secure but rushing out such things cause more problems than they fix.
[2018/04/07 11:18] Boomer McBooms: I'll cling to 8.1 as long as possible.
[2018/04/07 11:18] dan banner: sorry im late
[2018/04/07 11:18] Emma Bass: hi Dan
[2018/04/07 11:18] Boomer McBooms: hello dan
[2018/04/07 11:18] albertlr Landar: Well they had releases for Windows 7 that also were causing problems.
[2018/04/07 11:18] tiivi tuuli: hey dan
[2018/04/07 11:18] Lil Senil: hey Dan
[2018/04/07 11:18] albertlr Landar: And no I heard that some Intel updates will never happen.
[2018/04/07 11:18] tiivi tuuli: ye old beast
[2018/04/07 11:18] Peter Barlow: hello Dan!
[2018/04/07 11:19] Arrwyll Barzane: what do you mean albert intel ...?
[2018/04/07 11:19] George Equus: Hi Dan
[2018/04/07 11:19] casper berg: anyone that have linux setup for the sims??
[2018/04/07 11:19] Peter Barlow: yes, I do
[2018/04/07 11:19] Emma Bass: I do too
[2018/04/07 11:19] albertlr Landar: Seems if you have an I7 cpu from around 2007 -2011 they can not patch them for the vulnerabilties
[2018/04/07 11:19] casper berg: well is that hard setup
[2018/04/07 11:19] Boomer McBooms: I am designing a new computer. I noticed a lot of chips will require Windows 10 to function.
[2018/04/07 11:19] casper berg: ???
[2018/04/07 11:19] Emma Bass: you mean W10 drivers?
[2018/04/07 11:20] tiivi tuuli: hey guys casper needa help setting up him sim
[2018/04/07 11:20] casper berg: have mint linux
[2018/04/07 11:20] Boomer McBooms: Mine is from 2011. Seems to work fine.
Answer: The problem with the 2007-2011 Intel chips are they are vulnerable to hacking because of bad design in the original chips. Intel says they are unable to provide fixes for those.
[2018/04/07 11:20] albertlr Landar: It requires a hardware change to the cpu which they can not provide.
[2018/04/07 11:20] Boomer McBooms: Welcome to the club, Casper. :)
[2018/04/07 11:20] casper berg: ty
[2018/04/07 11:20] albertlr Landar: No what they are saying is they can not fix the two security problems for those chips.
[2018/04/07 11:20] tiivi tuuli: :))
[2018/04/07 11:20] Arrwyll Barzane: i was going to switch back t 7 tonight ... maybe now i will hold off
[2018/04/07 11:20] dan banner: casper: its same download and process as windows but you just need mono-complete installed for the .net
[2018/04/07 11:20] Boomer McBooms: Hi malon.
[2018/04/07 11:21] stiofain mactomais: hey dan
[2018/04/07 11:21] albertlr Landar: There are articles on the internet about it.
[2018/04/07 11:21] Malon Wyngard: Hi all..))
[2018/04/07 11:21] stiofain mactomais: hi malon
[2018/04/07 11:21] George Equus: Hello Malon
[2018/04/07 11:21] Emma Bass: hi Malon
[2018/04/07 11:21] Lil Senil: hi Malon
[2018/04/07 11:22] albertlr Landar: So if you fear you might have a computer that could be hacked because of the security defaults for those years, may want to eventually consider replacements for the CPU's or getting new Mother Boards.
[2018/04/07 11:22] albertlr Landar: Mainly I7's from 2007-2011 they said.
[2018/04/07 11:22] Boomer McBooms: MIne keeps chugging along, but it needs replacing.
[2018/04/07 11:22] Arrwyll Barzane: mine are about 2 years old - i7 dual core
[2018/04/07 11:22] Arrwyll Barzane: quad, sorry
[2018/04/07 11:23] albertlr Landar: Well that one should be ok.
[2018/04/07 11:23] George Equus: Getting harder and harder finding hardware for anything supporting non 10
[2018/04/07 11:23] albertlr Landar: Intel will be releasing new bios for those they can fix, just some they say can not be fixed.
[2018/04/07 11:23] Arrwyll Barzane: yes microsoft putting a squeeze on us
[2018/04/07 11:23] albertlr Landar: AMD on the other hand says they are working on all their's.
[2018/04/07 11:24] albertlr Landar: Do not expect any slow down with their fixes.
[2018/04/07 11:24] George Equus: I have zero trust in MS these days
[2018/04/07 11:24] Boomer McBooms: Yep.
[2018/04/07 11:24] albertlr Landar: well unfortunately alot of the tech giants are not showing a lot of confidence in things these days.
[2018/04/07 11:25] George Equus: Maintain my win 7 and 8.1 systems very carefully.
[2018/04/07 11:25] albertlr Landar: more like fix it after it is broken.
[2018/04/07 11:25] albertlr Landar: if they can
[2018/04/07 11:26] George Equus: Once I figure a way to hack win10 I might consider it
[2018/04/07 11:26] Arrwyll Barzane: good luck with that
[2018/04/07 11:26] albertlr Landar: https://thehackernews.com/
[2018/04/07 11:26] George Equus: those patch monsters are unacceptable
[2018/04/07 11:26] albertlr Landar: Might want to keep up with this site, they provide links to more information on all this than just about anyone else.
[2018/04/07 11:27] albertlr Landar: https://thehackernews.com/2018/04/intel ... ility.html
[2018/04/07 11:27] albertlr Landar: This is the article on the Intel problem
[2018/04/07 11:28] Jeff Hall is Online
[2018/04/07 11:29] albertlr Landar: Hello Jeff
[2018/04/07 11:29] Emma Bass: Hello Jeff
[2018/04/07 11:29] Malon Wyngard: Hi Jeff
[2018/04/07 11:29] Jeff Hall: hey everyone:)
[2018/04/07 11:29] Lil Senil: Hi Jeff
[2018/04/07 11:29] Jeff Hall: sorry for delay
[2018/04/07 11:29] Boomer McBooms: Hi Jeff
[2018/04/07 11:29] tiivi tuuli: hello Jeff
[2018/04/07 11:29] stiofain mactomais: so we spotted a major bug on os9,1 this week that i havent seen mentioned anywhere .... when we were building the underwater titanic about 5 yrs ago justin cc got involved to fix os so we cud build below z=o but now it has reverted back to sl standards when loading oar nothing below z=0 loads
[2018/04/07 11:30] albertlr Landar: Hum, I was not aware you could go below z=0 here.
[2018/04/07 11:31] albertlr Landar: so it would be for instance z=-10
[2018/04/07 11:31] stiofain mactomais: yea albert there was a big discussion at the time
[2018/04/07 11:31] albertlr Landar: maybe report that too Ubit, he may have thought that was a mistake in the code.
[2018/04/07 11:32] George Equus: Titanic go -80 meters below
[2018/04/07 11:32] stiofain mactomais: a lot of ppl put a lot of work into getting bots working below 0
[2018/04/07 11:32] Peter Barlow: what's wrong with reporting it in the mantis?
[2018/04/07 11:32] albertlr Landar: well that is what I meant, to report it in the mantis
[2018/04/07 11:32] Peter Barlow: ah ok ;-)
[2018/04/07 11:32] stiofain mactomais: yea just thot id bring up here too
[2018/04/07 11:32] Jeff Hall: mantis is main channel
[2018/04/07 11:33] Jeff Hall: do we have new devs coming in opensims?
[2018/04/07 11:33] stiofain mactomais: does ubit usually go to tues dev meet? i havent been in while
[2018/04/07 11:34] Jeff Hall: seems there arent enough devs on it
[2018/04/07 11:34] George Equus: Usually turn up
[2018/04/07 11:34] Mirror Amorasi is Offline
[2018/04/07 11:35] stiofain mactomais: it was a big deal at time considered a great extra feature compared to sl
[2018/04/07 11:35] albertlr Landar: He was at the Thuesday meeting here this past week.
[2018/04/07 11:35] Jeff Hall: would be good maybe to not ask for money support but also devs willing to work in opensim
[2018/04/07 11:35] Jeff Hall: i mean both
[2018/04/07 11:35] George Equus: Hope he only fixes things that make trouble.. negative depth don't seem to create problems for anyone.
[2018/04/07 11:35] albertlr Landar: Well I saw where they were trying to set up a crowd funding campaign to help pay some of the developers.
[2018/04/07 11:36] albertlr Landar: To get more interest I guess.
[2018/04/07 11:36] Boomer McBooms: Why is negative depth needed?
[2018/04/07 11:36] albertlr Landar: I guess because of the size of the build.
[2018/04/07 11:36] Lil Senil: have to go to RL thanks, see you
[2018/04/07 11:36] Arrwyll Barzane: tc lil
[2018/04/07 11:36] Boomer McBooms: Bye Lil
[2018/04/07 11:36] Jeff Hall: we def need support in all fields albert i vouch for that
[2018/04/07 11:36] Peter Barlow: bye Lil
[2018/04/07 11:37] Malon Wyngard: Lil
[2018/04/07 11:37] Malon Wyngard: ~~$$~~ByeBye~~$$~~
[2018/04/07 11:37] Boomer McBooms: LOL
[2018/04/07 11:37] stiofain mactomais: the titanic is sunken wreck boomer
[2018/04/07 11:37] Boomer McBooms: I know.
[2018/04/07 11:37] Jeff Hall: we wouldnt be here if not having opensim devs
[2018/04/07 11:37] Boomer McBooms: But can;t you set the water lever higher?
[2018/04/07 11:37] Boomer McBooms: level
[2018/04/07 11:37] stiofain mactomais: is part of 9 regions
[2018/04/07 11:38] George Equus: then you need to elevate everything around it too...
[2018/04/07 11:38] stiofain mactomais: rest is city
[2018/04/07 11:38] Boomer McBooms: Yes. The problem then is retrofitting it.
[2018/04/07 11:38] Boomer McBooms: Any guesses why it reverted?
[2018/04/07 11:38] albertlr Landar: that could get complicated to move everything up in a prebuilt sim.
[2018/04/07 11:38] George Equus: ideal would be global unrestricted depth, as is upwards
[2018/04/07 11:39] stiofain mactomais: the fix jcc made most have been taken out
[2018/04/07 11:39] albertlr Landar: well actually upwards is set only to 10,000
[2018/04/07 11:39] Boomer McBooms: Why is that?
[2018/04/07 11:39] albertlr Landar: Or at least the viewers only function that high.
[2018/04/07 11:39] George Equus: well.. rather good though
[2018/04/07 11:40] Boomer McBooms: It is high enough for me. I really never questioend the 10,000 limit.
[2018/04/07 11:40] George Equus: any miner would applaud a neg. depth :)
[2018/04/07 11:40] Boomer McBooms: I just assumed it was arbitrary, or a physical limitation.
[2018/04/07 11:40] George Equus: 10 000 is more than I knew was possible
[2018/04/07 11:41] albertlr Landar: could this be a setting in the opensim.default.ini?
[2018/04/07 11:41] Boomer McBooms: At 10,001 you turn into a pumpkin.
[2018/04/07 11:41] stiofain mactomais: am pretty sure is in core albert
[2018/04/07 11:42] George Equus: I tested several sim versions, back and all have same behavior
[2018/04/07 11:42] George Equus: must be core code
[2018/04/07 11:42] albertlr Landar: any idea when it reverted.
[2018/04/07 11:43] albertlr Landar: so it was working with 8
[2018/04/07 11:43] stiofain mactomais: yea
[2018/04/07 11:44] stiofain mactomais: here is part of the discussion that went on at time http://opensimulator.org/pipermail/open ... 24810.html
[2018/04/07 11:44] stiofain mactomais: got a bit heated at times lol but jcc sorted it
[2018/04/07 11:46] Boomer McBooms: FYI - WE Finally got TerraWorldz installed correctly. WE rebuilt the server with 323 Gigs Ram, and used the OS platform. Seems to be working flawlessly now.
[2018/04/07 11:47] Boomer McBooms: Also, we got a new address. Hopefully that fixes thee TP problems the old version was experiencing.
[2018/04/07 11:47] albertlr Landar: gee 323 gigs of Ram...
[2018/04/07 11:48] Boomer McBooms: My avatar and ID from that was erqased. My OS Boomer seems to be the only reliable one I've had so far.
[2018/04/07 11:49] Peter Barlow: and on that bombshell it's time for me to leave the meeting...If you like 70s music, joint me at vartown grid!
[2018/04/07 11:49] Peter Barlow: a good weekend to all!!
[2018/04/07 11:49] Arrwyll Barzane: tc Pater
[2018/04/07 11:49] albertlr Landar: Well it appears that Melanie was for the negative Z numbers, so I would think it would have been supported in the 9 code.
[2018/04/07 11:50] George Equus: It worked a couple of months ago
[2018/04/07 11:50] Boomer McBooms: My CTO, Reza, is in a computer class today. he asked me to pose two questions for you. 1. Where can he get the best documentation for linking TerraWorldz to the OS, and where can we find documentation on creating a dedicated FireStorm viewer for our members to download when they join?
[2018/04/07 11:50] George Equus: that is. Titanic build was visible
[2018/04/07 11:51] albertlr Landar: well I would definately make a mantis on it, and drop in on the dev meeting and bring up the subject with Ubit. That would probably get the fastest attention to it.
[2018/04/07 11:52] Jeff Hall: albert: is there any other devs working in opensim now apart ubit?
[2018/04/07 11:52] stiofain mactomais: u just need to turn hg opn boomer
[2018/04/07 11:52] albertlr Landar: just check out the git entries.
[2018/04/07 11:53] tiivi tuuli: i have to go in sleep
[2018/04/07 11:53] Boomer McBooms: We have been working on this for several days. Nothing seems to work. It is so frustrating. We are finally ready to open.
[2018/04/07 11:53] tiivi tuuli: ni ni guys
[2018/04/07 11:53] Boomer McBooms: Good night, Tiivi
[2018/04/07 11:53] Jeff Hall: byeTivi
[2018/04/07 11:53] George Equus: ni ni Tiivi
[2018/04/07 11:53] albertlr Landar: https://thehackernews.com/2018/04/intel ... ility.html
[2018/04/07 11:53] albertlr Landar: Thats the latest entries
[2018/04/07 11:54] albertlr Landar: kevin Cozens was helping last month, and some others.
[2018/04/07 11:55] albertlr Landar: But things start to slow down as warmer weather approaches, and people sometimes have to go to real life jobs so don't have as much time.
[2018/04/07 11:55] Arrwyll Barzane: need to run - take care
[2018/04/07 11:55] albertlr Landar: ok
[2018/04/07 11:56] George Equus: Hope these flaws and bugs keep coming win 10 ways, maybe only way to change MS way of distributing patches.
[2018/04/07 11:56] albertlr Landar: well does anyone have anything else they would like to bring up this week.
[2018/04/07 11:56] albertlr Landar: Yea I sure hope things get more stable.
[2018/04/07 11:57] George Equus: It is NOT up to MS to decide what is best for us..
[2018/04/07 11:57] albertlr Landar: And the Social Networks need to handle everyones data better but looks like some laws to hold them accountable may be required.
[2018/04/07 11:57] Boomer McBooms: Does anyone have the GIT entries link for connecting to OS?
[2018/04/07 11:58] albertlr Landar: Hum, not sure what you are asking for?
[2018/04/07 11:58] Boomer McBooms: [11:52] stiofain mactomais: u just need to turn hg opn boomer
[11:52] albertlr Landar: just check out the git entries.
[2018/04/07 11:58] stiofain mactomais: i think u mean hg?
[2018/04/07 11:58] stiofain mactomais: hypergrid?
[2018/04/07 11:58] Boomer McBooms: Yes. I am not the most technically oriented person.
[2018/04/07 11:58] albertlr Landar: I meant who was updating the git code.
[2018/04/07 11:59] Boomer McBooms: Yes. We cannot connect to it since the new install.
[2018/04/07 11:59] albertlr Landar: Unless you are a developer the entries there are just general explainations of what has been done.
[2018/04/07 11:59] albertlr Landar: You may want to checkout the wiki explainations on things.
[2018/04/07 11:59] albertlr Landar: And talk with Foxx he is the best trouble shooter on here.
[2018/04/07 11:59] stiofain mactomais: is just enable/disable in ini
[2018/04/07 11:59] Boomer McBooms: Reza just asked for better documentation. For connecting us to HG, and for creating tyhr dedicated FireStorm Viewer for new member to download when they join.
[2018/04/07 12:01] dan banner: boomer HG is a setting to allow your users to teleport in and out of your grid to other grids
[2018/04/07 12:01] albertlr Landar: Ok, as I said talk with Foxx he can direct you to the better documentation, and give you the best advice for your problem.
[2018/04/07 12:01] dan banner: there is no specific 'connect to osgrid' setting
[2018/04/07 12:01] Boomer McBooms: OK.
[2018/04/07 12:01] dan banner: with HG you can teleport to any other hg enabled grids
[2018/04/07 12:02] dan banner: if you want regions inside osgrid you will have to run simulators connected here as osgrid regions
[2018/04/07 12:02] Boomer McBooms: I wonder why we are having so many problems. We had a link to a page about this, filled with code. Reza implemented it all, but no luck.
[2018/04/07 12:02] Boomer McBooms: Right, Dan, that is what we need.
[2018/04/07 12:03] albertlr Landar: You port settings can also cause problems Boomer.
[2018/04/07 12:03] Boomer McBooms: All we want is to TP in and out.
[2018/04/07 12:04] Boomer McBooms: Is there any documentation on this, Dan?
[2018/04/07 12:04] albertlr Landar: Setting your router properly is essential to the HG working properly.
[2018/04/07 12:04] Boomer McBooms: Just on connecting the link so we can TP?
[2018/04/07 12:04] Boomer McBooms: Everything else works perfectly now.
[2018/04/07 12:04] stiofain mactomais: they are on commercial server albert
[2018/04/07 12:04] Boomer McBooms: All the glitches are fixed since we installed the OS app.
[2018/04/07 12:05] albertlr Landar: Oh
[2018/04/07 12:05] Boomer McBooms: WE doubled the gigs of ram on the server, to 32.
[2018/04/07 12:05] albertlr Landar: Ok Boomer have you followed the tutorials in the wiki.
[2018/04/07 12:05] George Equus: Maybe Pathfinder Lester can help as well
[2018/04/07 12:05] stiofain mactomais: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Hypergrid
[2018/04/07 12:05] Boomer McBooms: Yes. Reza has. The OAS instructions.
[2018/04/07 12:06] albertlr Landar: https://wiki.osgrid.org/index.php/Tutorial03
[2018/04/07 12:06] albertlr Landar: such as this
[2018/04/07 12:06] Boomer McBooms: We have that. I'll run this by Reza when he returns from the college.
[2018/04/07 12:07] Boomer McBooms: He had a different page with a lot of code to add.
[2018/04/07 12:07] Boomer McBooms: Maybe we don't need all that.
[2018/04/07 12:07] albertlr Landar: Get him to talk with Foxx Bode when he has the time.
[2018/04/07 12:07] Boomer McBooms: OK. Thank you.
[2018/04/07 12:07] albertlr Landar: He can help.
[2018/04/07 12:08] Boomer McBooms: George and Stiofain, the avatar you befriended before was erased when we did the fresh install.
[2018/04/07 12:08] albertlr Landar: all it takes is one little mis entry in an ini file, or a router setting and it does not work properly.
[2018/04/07 12:08] albertlr Landar: Well if nothing else this week, thanks for coming everyone. Will see you next week.
[2018/04/07 12:09] Boomer McBooms: When we used the Dreamworlkdz and Outworkldz downloads TP worked fine, but we had other glitches. The OS download seems to have solved themk all.
[2018/04/07 12:09] Boomer McBooms: Thank you Albertr.
[2018/04/07 12:09] George Equus: Thanks Albert
[2018/04/07 12:09] Jeff Hall: ty albert
[2018/04/07 12:09] Boomer McBooms: \And everyone. Sorry to be so whine. ;)
[2018/04/07 12:09] Boomer McBooms: whiny
[2018/04/07 12:09] albertlr Landar: on problem
[2018/04/07 12:09] Boomer McBooms: But this is driving me crazy.
[2018/04/07 12:09] albertlr Landar: thats why we are here.
[2018/04/07 12:09] Boomer McBooms: :)
[2018/04/07 12:10] albertlr Landar: Hey I've had problems myself when I moved to a new house.
[2018/04/07 12:10] Boomer McBooms: Take care, everyone.
[2018/04/07 12:10] George Equus: tc
[2018/04/07 12:10] Boomer McBooms: TTFN
[2018/04/07 12:10] albertlr Landar: I finally solved my problems by going back and examining every little set up entry I had made.
[2018/04/07 12:10] albertlr Landar: It will eventually be one of those, now why did I not see that before moments.
[2018/04/07 12:11] Boomer McBooms: :)
[2018/04/07 12:11] albertlr Landar: Ok bye all.
