[10:44 AM] albertlr Landar: Hello Jagga
[10:53 AM] albertlr Landar: Well Hello Jagga hope some more come today.
[10:56 AM] Jagga Meredith: my questions are going to be mostly console and grid
[10:56 AM] albertlr Landar: oh ok
[10:56 AM] albertlr Landar: actually that was want I was going to bring up today also.
[10:57 AM] Jagga Meredith: my test server has suddenly gone production
[10:57 AM] albertlr Landar: I just got through upgrading grids and standalone to a recent release that Dan posted.
[10:57 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[10:57 AM] albertlr Landar: have not done that in about a year.
[10:57 AM] Jagga Meredith: if your dance balls quit, I know how to fix that
[10:57 AM] albertlr Landar: well I switched over to the Yengine.
[10:57 AM] Jagga Meredith: oh ok
[10:57 AM] albertlr Landar: everything seems to run so much better under it.
[10:57 AM] Jagga Meredith: kewl
[10:58 AM] albertlr Landar: But I don't think that the latest Diva distro has it newest yengine changes yet.
[10:58 AM] Jagga Meredith: right
[10:58 AM] Jagga Meredith: Iv'e got diva up, but nobody can log in
[10:58 AM] albertlr Landar: So considering moving everything over from standalone to a grid.
[10:58 AM] Jagga Meredith: yeah
[10:59 AM] albertlr Landar: I also upgraded to the latest Xampp with 64 bit support.
[10:59 AM] Jagga Meredith: odd - nobody's online except lanini
[10:59 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[10:59 AM] albertlr Landar: I never could get the older MySQL to properly back up sql files.
[11:00 AM] albertlr Landar: So I just made oars and Iars of everything and then reloaded them.
[11:00 AM] Jagga Meredith: yep
[11:00 AM] albertlr Landar: That made the whole process longer but with fewer problems.
[11:00 AM] Jagga Meredith: oh reind me to ask about oars
[11:00 AM] albertlr Landar: well have been an expert in that.
[11:00 AM] albertlr Landar: I am the one that made the dispercement table everyone uses.
[11:01 AM] Jagga Meredith: sicne it's just us....
[11:01 AM] albertlr Landar: sure go a head.
[11:01 AM] Jagga Meredith: I've got a 5 by 5 running on a small server
[11:01 AM] albertlr Landar: any question is fine.
[11:01 AM] Jagga Meredith: I had my region running on it, backed up to oars
[11:01 AM] Jagga Meredith: on the console I'd get the occasional error message about bad stuff
[11:02 AM] albertlr Landar: yea, it does that.
[11:02 AM] Jagga Meredith: melissa's wings and stuff
[11:02 AM] albertlr Landar: yea, I get that too.
[11:02 AM] albertlr Landar: same error too I think.
[11:02 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok so it's not just me
[11:02 AM] Jagga Meredith: I friend needed a place to set up in case something went sour on another grid
[11:02 AM] Jagga Meredith: drama
[11:02 AM] Jagga Meredith: let's not go there
[11:03 AM] Jagga Meredith: so I got an oar from him
[11:03 AM] Jagga Meredith: i kept an oar of when i first set up called "empty"
[11:03 AM] albertlr Landar: I've notice that since I have upgraded my MariadV database ,and use setting recommend by Nebadon for the My.ini I get less of those.
[11:03 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:03 AM] Jagga Meredith: I'm still running MySql
[11:03 AM] albertlr Landar: I can give you a link to those if you wish.
[11:03 AM] Jagga Meredith: so I loaded "empty" to get everything off
[11:04 AM] albertlr Landar: Might want to consider upgrading to MariaDB
[11:04 AM] Jagga Meredith: yeah
[11:04 AM] albertlr Landar: if you get the latest Xampp its got it
[11:04 AM] Jagga Meredith: I believe I was still getting weird error messages on an empty region
[11:04 AM] albertlr Landar: Maria is the same as MySql, same command, just a better version.
[11:04 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:05 AM] Jagga Meredith: so I loaded his oar and everything went fine
[11:05 AM] albertlr Landar: https://www.apachefriends.org/download.html
[11:05 AM] albertlr Landar: Thats the latest.
[11:05 AM] Jagga Meredith: i'm on linux
[11:05 AM] albertlr Landar: It installs and runs pretty good.
[11:05 AM] albertlr Landar: Jave have to make sure your old installation is uninstalled first.
[11:06 AM] Jagga Meredith: errr...which question are you answering?
[11:06 AM] Jagga Meredith: "old installation" - Mysql database?
[11:07 AM] albertlr Landar: Well they do have it for linux still, but I think its still 32 bit.
[11:07 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:07 AM] albertlr Landar: And the setting would still be the same for either.
[11:07 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:08 AM] albertlr Landar: https://www.nebadon2025.com/opensim/
[11:08 AM] Jagga Meredith: so if I'm seeing error messages on an empty region - is that ghosts in the database?
[11:08 AM] Wizard Atazoth is Online
[11:08 AM] albertlr Landar: go to Nebadons website, he has good advice about linux, and you can get the changes needed for your nysql
[11:09 AM] albertlr Landar: you can run phpmyadmin and usually fix the datatbases.
[11:09 AM] albertlr Landar: run a check on their health, clean them, etc.
[11:09 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:09 AM] albertlr Landar: I assume you are running a version of Xampp
[11:09 AM] Jagga Meredith: I have no idea
[11:10 AM] albertlr Landar: well its good because it comes with apache and several other add on, which are installed automatically for you.
[11:11 AM] Jagga Meredith: no
[11:11 AM] Jagga Meredith: looks good- just googled
[11:11 AM] albertlr Landar: you can run things on your mysql but it gets rather complicated if you do it from your console.
[11:11 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:11 AM] albertlr Landar: Using a Control panel to maintain your database is faster and easier because you don't have to type in all the commands.
[11:11 AM] Jagga Meredith: is there an easier way of cleaning a region out other than dropping an empty oar on it?
[11:12 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:12 AM] albertlr Landar: That is about the best way that I have seen.
[11:12 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:12 AM] albertlr Landar: You can use the Robust console to deregister the region by its UUID and remove it.
[11:13 AM] Jagga Meredith: it's on here - no rubust or console
[11:13 AM] albertlr Landar: bit I have found that it still seems to stick around in the database for a while.
[11:13 AM] albertlr Landar: Oh on OSgrid.
[11:13 AM] Jagga Meredith: yes
[11:13 AM] albertlr Landar: well that is different then use your opensim console.
[11:13 AM] Jagga Meredith: yes
[11:14 AM] albertlr Landar: you can do that on there just type help regions
[11:14 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:14 AM] albertlr Landar: and you will see all the commands.
[11:14 AM] Jagga Meredith: here's another odd one
[11:14 AM] albertlr Landar: help all will show you everything.
[11:14 AM] Jagga Meredith: yep
[11:14 AM] Jagga Meredith: and I have the website of commands
[11:14 AM] albertlr Landar: lots of them
[11:15 AM] Jagga Meredith: I brought over my url from another grid
[11:15 AM] Elmo Figaro is Online
[11:15 AM] albertlr Landar: and you have to get it spelled right, no capital letters.
[11:15 AM] Jagga Meredith: it had parcels on it
[11:15 AM] albertlr Landar: by importing an oar.
[11:15 AM] Jagga Meredith: When I first loaded it, the parcels were there, worked perfectly
[11:15 AM] Jagga Meredith: when I rebooted it, parcels were gone, just one big region
[11:16 AM] Jagga Meredith: got rid of that region (just a test) been loading other oars
[11:16 AM] albertlr Landar: hum, only thing I can think of is the way the other Grid handled the parcels is different from how Osgrid is handling it.
[11:16 AM] Jagga Meredith: when i fire up region, get error messages complaining that it can't overwrite the old parcels
[11:16 AM] albertlr Landar: Sounds like a Dan questions.
[11:17 AM] Jagga Meredith: ah ok
[11:17 AM] albertlr Landar: he knows better the inner workings of OSgrid than I.
[11:17 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:17 AM] Jagga Meredith: I'm suspecting ghost parcels in the database
[11:17 AM] albertlr Landar: but if you load in an empty oar over one already here, it should replace it.
[11:18 AM] Jagga Meredith: yep
[11:18 AM] albertlr Landar: Well if the old was not properly deleted, it can hang around.
[11:18 AM] albertlr Landar: What I have done it move to a new location in OSgrid.
[11:18 AM] albertlr Landar: Got way up where no one else was around.
[11:18 AM] Jagga Meredith: there's an idea
[11:19 AM] albertlr Landar: Dan does a clean up of the ghost regions every once in a while, so the old will be removed from the central dababase eventually.
[11:19 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:20 AM] albertlr Landar: you can sometimes check to see if a region has not been removed by looking at the regions on the OSgrid website.
[11:20 AM] Jagga Meredith: yep
[11:20 AM] paela argus is Online
[11:20 AM] albertlr Landar: It should eventually be gone from there if deleted.
[11:21 AM] hipster flower is Online
[11:21 AM] albertlr Landar: So any other questions?
[11:21 AM] Jagga Meredith: yes
[11:21 AM] Jagga Meredith: just one
[11:22 AM] Jagga Meredith: so the friend's region has stuff on it with multiple owners (including me)
[11:22 AM] albertlr Landar: ok
[11:22 AM] Jagga Meredith: is there any way to preserve the initial owner's info during the load?
[11:23 AM] Jagga Meredith: not all have accounts here
[11:24 AM] albertlr Landar: you can do that with those that residents, but not sure it will work with those not registered on OSgrid.
[11:24 AM] albertlr Landar: They will end up as unknowns.
[11:24 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:24 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok thanks for the help
[11:24 AM] Jagga Meredith: I'll talk to Dan next time I see him
[11:25 AM] paela argus is Offline
[11:25 AM] Jagga Meredith: Foxx has been helping
[11:25 AM] albertlr Landar: oh, he should be on later today.
[11:25 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:25 AM] Jagga Meredith: I'm here all day so I'll probably see him log in
[11:25 AM] albertlr Landar: yea, Foxx is good for everything, especially connections.
[11:25 AM] Jagga Meredith: he cleared up my danceball problem - configuration change
[11:26 AM] albertlr Landar: But one thing I would suggest. If you have large inventory, put things in physical blocks and save then on a region as an oar.
[11:26 AM] Danger Lytton is Offline
[11:26 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:26 AM] albertlr Landar: Having too much inventory can slow you down, and especially cause problems if you want to ever hypergrird.
[11:27 AM] Jagga Meredith: yeah, other grids dislike us because we drag our whole inventory with us - no suitcase
[11:27 AM] Clan Escotia is Online
[11:27 AM] albertlr Landar: sort of like real life, you have all your possessions all around you not on you.
[11:27 AM] Jagga Meredith: yep
[11:28 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok, thanks for all the help
[11:28 AM] Jagga Meredith: gonna go dance at my friends' club
[11:28 AM] albertlr Landar: One of the problems they had last week was the large asset database that OSgrid now has.
[11:28 AM] Jagga Meredith: oh right
[11:28 AM] albertlr Landar: They are going to have to move to a better system next year.
[11:28 AM] Jagga Meredith: yeah - what?
[11:28 AM] albertlr Landar: So will have to go off line for a bit next year, which will be announced when it happens.
[11:29 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:29 AM] Azi Az is Online
[11:29 AM] albertlr Landar: So all the errors you are now seeing may be fixed with that change
[11:29 AM] Jagga Meredith: kewl
[11:30 AM] albertlr Landar: All the plaza Regions are now in Canada, but the assets are in Texas.
[11:30 AM] Jagga Meredith: montreal?
[11:30 AM] albertlr Landar: They did move the servers there in Texas to new racks, and they have very good backups for the assets now.
[11:30 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:30 AM] albertlr Landar: Well the assets in Texas.
[11:31 AM] albertlr Landar: But yes the plaza regions are in Montreal
[11:31 AM] Jagga Meredith: yuou guys were running out of McGill university
[11:31 AM] Jagga Meredith: right
[11:31 AM] Jagga Meredith: see - I know whit
[11:31 AM] Jagga Meredith: shit
[11:31 AM] albertlr Landar: I have six of my own regions now in Montreal also.
[11:31 AM] Jagga Meredith: kewl
[11:31 AM] Jagga Meredith: mine's in my bedroom
[11:31 AM] albertlr Landar: Pay$49 a month to host them there.
[11:31 AM] Jagga Meredith: wow
[11:31 AM] Jagga Meredith: keeps my bedroom warm
[11:31 AM] albertlr Landar: I use to have mine at home, but when I switched to AT&T their routers would not work propertly.
[11:32 AM] Jagga Meredith: I put my own router in parallel
[11:32 AM] albertlr Landar: But I now have fiber optices so may switch back to my home set up soon.
[11:32 AM] Jagga Meredith: i'm on fibre - works great
[11:32 AM] albertlr Landar: yea, sure does
[11:32 AM] albertlr Landar: lots of speed.
[11:33 AM] Jagga Meredith: are you using an edgerouter?
[11:33 AM] albertlr Landar: But the way I found out that you can set the the web band width in the viewer much higher than they recommend with the fiber optics.
[11:33 AM] Jagga Meredith: mine's cranked way up
[11:33 AM] Jagga Meredith: works fine
[11:33 AM] albertlr Landar: They say you should take a measure of you current band width and multiply it by 800, then you can use that setting.
[11:34 AM] Jagga Meredith: i'll try that
[11:36 AM] Jagga Meredith: need to compare notes with somebody running an Edgewater router.
[11:36 AM] Jagga Meredith: what time's the Tuesday developer meeting?
[11:36 AM] Wizard Atazoth is Offline
[11:36 AM] albertlr Landar: I believe its at 11 like it is here, at least it was, but let me check
[11:37 AM] albertlr Landar: yea at 11 am grid time
[11:37 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:37 AM] albertlr Landar: This meeting is scheduled for 11:00 grid time (19.00 UTC if grid time is PST or 18:00 UTC if it is PDT) at Dev Outreach in OSGrid (osgrid.org). http://hg.osgrid.org:80:Dev Outreach
[11:37 AM] Jagga Meredith: I'm done - you need anything?
[11:37 AM] albertlr Landar: no that's about all I got.
[11:38 AM] albertlr Landar: So we can disband for today.
[11:38 AM] albertlr Landar: i got a hungry dog to feed as well as myself.
[11:38 AM] Jagga Meredith: ok
[11:38 AM] albertlr Landar: Well thanks for coming hope you can get all the answers you need.
[11:38 AM] Jagga Meredith: thanks for the help
[11:38 AM] albertlr Landar: Anytime.
[11:38 AM] Jagga Meredith: see you next week
[11:38 AM] albertlr Landar: ok'
[11:38 AM] albertlr Landar: bye
