Foxxe Wilder {L_WROTE}:
no router?? geez you are either very trusting or very naive. I could never allow my computer to be regularly attacked by leaving it wide open to the internet and let's face it, MS software has more holes in it than the red light district of Amsterdam so let's not assume to trust the shabby firewall software that is regularly targetted by hackers.
In the future I suggest you include an explanation in XP as no one in their right mind would TOUCH anything above it (Vista being a major mistake and Win 7 being a very bubblegum interface and still not fully accepted)
MS has professional hackers in their employ to find vulnerabilities .. so they can fix them in "patches".
Well, now that Windows 10 is out .... XP is no longer supported. Windows 7 is being upgraded to Windows 10.
(A freebe I'm not all that crazy about because this means a lot of older software becomes legacy and will no longer function).
You lose your Windows 7 capability to restore unless you have a separate installation disk.
No amount of firewall / anti-virus / anti-malware is of any use against ignorance.
Somebody or (several somebodys) needs to upgrade Opensim .. seriously before it becomes outmoded.
This is especially true for the DotNet 6 framework (while we're still slogging around with 4).
