Is it worth it?

Let me be clear, I've given away free regions to people, and I'm not so sure they even visit anymore, let alone use them. Is it worth my bandwidth to keep them going?

I'm thinking of sending an in world message giving them 1 week to reply, and if there isn't any reply, trash their land. Is this reasonable?

And more to the point, is offering free land worth it at all, or should I simply go with a real money cost?

When I offered free homesteads, users had to show up at least once a month. If they didn't show for 30 days, I took the lot back, unless we had made prior arrangements. That link the Dan left is very handy. Keeping track was a bit of a pain, but not that bad. A script could probably do it.

Seems it's not an issue now. They've gone, and took all their crap with them. No thank you, kiss my ass or anything. And this after I terraformed it especially for them.

I'm done giving free land.

Not everyone is a rude, uncommunicative block.

Some of us new virtual residents truly appreciate having the generous off of free land.

I like the addition of a clicker that a homesteader has to use to show that they're active, still.

I'm looking for land in OSgrid. What benefit do you get from the tenant when you offer free land? Is there an agreement that they develop the parcel with art, add to the community, or something to increase traffic? Would preparing a land covenant help resolve this? - DrD
